Keshia Chanté storms the U.S.!

Sony BMG Music (Canada) Inc. and Sony Urban/Epic Recordings U.S. team up to release Canadian superstar's sophomore release 2U

TORONTO - Eighteen-year old Canadian sensation Keshia Chanté is set to release her Canadian sophomore album 2U on Tuesday, December 5, 2006.

For the first time Sony BMG Music (Canada) Inc. has teamed up with Sony Urban/Epic Recordings U.S. who are set to follow suit in early 2007 with 2U, Chanté's U.S. debut.

Chanté has aligned herself with a series of upper echelon songwriters and producers on this album including: Danja (Notorious B.I.G., Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake), Happy Perez (Ludacris), Matrax (Missy Elliot, P. Diddy, Glenn Lewis) and Rock Wilder (Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Prodigy).

The first single from 2U is entitled, "Been Gone" and it is already climbing the charts at Top 40 radio.

To set up the Canadian release and introduce her to the U.S. market Keshia Chanté has been working hard.

Chanté was one of the featured artists in the Teen People "Rock N Shop" Mall tour throughout the United States.

Chanté also performed in New York during Fashion week at Seventeen Magazine's "Rock the Runway" and at MTV New Talent Development showcase at The Improv in Hollywood, California.

Most recently Keshia Chanté received a personal invitation from Bow Wow to appear in his current video entitled, "Shortie Like Mine," shot in Los Angeles, featuring Chris Brown.

Accolades for the artist in Canada began in 2003 with Keshia Chanté winning "Best R&B Single" at the Canadian Urban Music Awards.

Since 2003, Chanté has padded her resume receiving numerous awards at radio, television and video including a 2005 Juno Award for "R&B/Soul Recording of the Year."

"Keshia was originally signed at the young age of 14 - her inherent talent was like nothing I had seen before," commented Lisa Zbitnew, president of Sony BMG Music (Canada) Inc.

"Now, four years later, that inherent talent, along with her unparalleled work ethic, professional attitude and wonderful spirit has brought her to the forefront of the world stage," Zbitnew said.

"Keshia deserves every ounce of success coming to her."

U.S. label attention solidified when Sony Urban/Epic Recordings executives saw Chanté's video on BET and met with the artist.

As noted by Lisa Ellis, president of Sony Urban U.S., "Keshia is one of the most refreshing talents I have seen come along in a long time."

"She is vibrant and a beautiful person inside and out," Ellis said.

"She fills a void in a marketplace full of female artists... uniquely comfortable in her own skin at such a young age."

"I have fun watching and listening to her; every time I notice something new, which is great... She has a lifetime of evolution in front of her!"

Prepare for the evolution of Keshia Chanté.
