Who knew that sleeping behind a piano at age two could lead to Juno awards?

Bill Bourne is the perfect example of how the simplest event can influence a life time and create a legacy.

Recording since 1981, having been nominated for eight Juno Awards and winning three of them and collaborating with artists from around the world have all earned Bourne the title of National Treasure.

In 2006, the people of Austria honoured Bourne by voting him along side Tom Waits and Kris Kristofferson, a fan favourite in Concerto magazine's String and Song International category.

For a decade he has been a part of The Carol Project, a unique and entertaining musical interpretation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

The December 2006 television premiere, in which Bourne plays Scrooge, received rave reviews.

"...the one thing you've probably never anticipated was a roots/folk adaptation of the classic Dickens story. Yet after you see The Carol Project, you might wind up feeling this is how it should have been done all along....The Carol Project is like one of those tiny presents off in the corner under the tree that you almost ignore. But to do so would be a big mistake, for the true spirit of the season shines within it." - Richard Ouzounian, The Toronto Star

He is an artist, a poet, a visionary and activist.

This highly influential, much decorated and world renowned artist will be performing at Loplops Gallery-Lounge on Monday, June 11.
