Murder, mayhem, and misfits in Michigan'’s Upper Peninsula

Marquette author, Sonny Longtine, will speak at Bayliss Public Library [in Sault Michigan] on Wednesday, May 13.

His program, part of the Annual Meeting of the Chippewa County Historical Society, will begin at about 7:15 p.m., after a short business meeting and elections that will start at 7 p.m.

His free talk “will feature 24 spine-tingling murders that turned quiet communities into fear-ridden crime scenes in the U.P.”

Sonny Longtine will explore the dark side of U.P. history; several of the murders he will discuss took place in Sault Ste. Marie.

Sonny Longtine is a retired teacher who has published five books on the U.P.: Marquette Then and Now; Michigan Upper Peninsula: Life, Legends, and Landmarks; Courage Burning; and Wading in Blood.

His talk is based on his latest book, Murder in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (2014).

His books will be available for purchase and signing that evening.

Bayliss Public Library, an affiliate of Superior District Library, is located at 541 Library Drive in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Please enter by the library’s front door as the library is usually closed on Wednesday evenings.

Dawson Street between Ashmun Street and Bingham Avenue is closed this month due to construction.

You may access the library via Library Drive from Ashmun Street just north of the Ashmun Bridge.
