WHO: St. Luke's Cathedral

WHAT: "Harvest Home" - A recital of music for piano featuring Stephen Mallinger performing works by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninov as well as two pieces composed by Mallinger himself.

WHERE: St. Luke's Cathedral - 160 Brock Street, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

WHEN: Sunday September 24, 2006 - 7 p.m.

WHY: This concert is a fund-raising event for St. Luke's Cathedral

OTHER DETAILS: Tickets are $15 in advance and are available at Thomas Walls School of Music, the Party Palace on Queen or at the Cathedral Office. Tickets at the door will be $17.

Everyone is invited to the "Harvest Reception" in the Parish Hall after the concert to enjoy refreshments and meet the performer.

Aside from being an accomplished recital pianist, Stephen Mallinger is organist and choirmaster at St. Luke's Cathedral in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

He is also active in the musical life of the Sault as the director of the Algoma Festival Choir and is a teacher with the Algoma Conservatory of Music.

Born in Toronto, Mallinger attended St. Michael's Choir School and graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor's Degree in piano performance, studying with Patricia Giron and Ronald Turini.

Before moving to Sault Ste. Marie, Mallinger lived in England, singing tenor in Lincoln Cathedral Choir and teaching voice and piano at Lincoln Cathedral School.

Mallinger was a featured performer with the Sault Symphony at the 2005 Algoma Fall Festival premiering "A Musical Seascape" by Geoffrey Peterson, a work commemorating the 30th anniversary of the shipwreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
