Shadows of the Mind announces dates for summer and winter festivals

Summer Shadows (August 11, 18, 25, September 1, 2010)

Shadows of the Mind Film Festival is pleased to announce the dates for their Summer Shadows Series, “Movies at the Park” that will be held at the Bellevue Park band shell.

Films will screen every Wednesday, starting August 11 through September 1.

Thursdays will be rain days.

Shadow’s volunteers will be screening classic and just released movies on their 28-foot inflatable screen starting at dusk.

Co-director Bill MacPherson encourages families to grab a blanket and chair and come to the park early.

“Starting at 8 p.m. we will be featuring local musicians who will be performing prior to each movie. Our sponsors, Basswerx Recording, have arranged for musicians, Jim O’Leary, Andre St. Jacques, Trace Hilderley/Steve Cardiff and Joel Poluck to entertain movie-goers over the month.

There will be something for everyone; not only will families be entertained by great music but we are working on getting terrific family-friendly movies which should make for a great evening.”

All for free, including the popcorn! Movie titles and dates, including performing artist will be released closer to the screening.

Winter Shadows (March 2 to 6, 2011)

For the first time in the festival’s 11 years, the date had to change from late February to late March to accommodate the Winter Olympics.

The new date will now be the first week of March of each year.

Bill MacPherson explained that during the 2010 festival the patrons were surveyed and asked how they enjoyed the festival and which date they preferred.

“Our Board met to review the results of the survey which indicated an overwhelming number of respondents enjoyed their experience at the festival and that there was a 50/50 split on the choice of date. We reviewed the comments and found that the reading week in February and March Break impact our patrons. We believe that moving the Festival date to the first week in March is a good compromise.”
