March Break pass includes access to interactive Guinness World Records exhibit

This March Break, families can enjoy all that the Sault Ste. Marie museums have to offer with the Cultural Corridor Connection. By purchasing a Cultural Corridor Connection Pass, community members can join in activities and events at six locations from March 14-19. 

The participating sites include The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum, Entomica Insectarium, Art Gallery of Algoma and the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library. 

“Essentially for the price of attending one venue, you’ll get access to all of them,” said Brian Bubinas, Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre Curator.

Passes are $25 and can be purchased online or in-person at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site, or at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library. Family passes accommodate two adults and up to four children, or one adult and up to five children.

The pass also includes access to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre’s new temporary exhibit, The Science of Guinness World Records. 

“It’s a very interactive, fun exhibit for the whole family,” Bubinas said. “You can test your skills and see how you size up against the record holders. There’s a lot of fun elements to it and we’ve had a great reaction so far.”

Some of the other planned activities include a hands-on insect tour at Entomica Insectarium, an artifact hunt at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum, baking and crafts at the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site, and dinosaur-themed activities at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library. 

“We’re thrilled to be working with our partners around town. We’ve already sold over 60 passes so far,” Bubinas said. “We’re optimistic and looking forward to welcoming the community back into our spaces.”

“We understand a lot of families still aren't travelling, so this is a nice opportunity to spend the week visiting some of our cultural venues here. We hope the city comes out to visit us,” he said.

Yoga with Strong Minds

March 14

The Northern Outlet along with Amanda Lambert from Strong Minds are hosting another yoga class for youth of all skill levels on Monday, March 14 at 6 p.m. All you will need is a mat and a quiet space with room to move. You can register for the virtual class on the Northern Outlet’s website. 

Frankly Speaking Live at Tempo

March 17

Welcome back local musical duo Frankly Speaking on Thursday, March 17 at Tempo Modern Mediterranean. The duo, consisting of Frank Greco and Frank Gioia will perform at 6 p.m. No cover or reservation is required. 

Cooking with Pauline

March 18

Spend an evening learning how to cook with the Northern Outlet’s Community Kitchen facilitator Pauline via Zoom on Friday, March 18 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The first 10 participants to register will get free ingredients delivered.
