As a founding member and lead singer of the garage punk band The Cramps, Interior along with his wife Poison Ivy (Kristy Wallace) are credited with creating the psychobilly sound by being the first to blend punk and rockabilly.

The band formed in the early 70s and was a prominent act in the emerging CBGB's punk scene in 1975 along with others, including Patti Smith and The Ramones.

Although the band enjoyed massive underground popularity, The Cramp's only charting single is Bikini Girls With Machine Guns from their 1990 release Stay Sick.

Interior was 60 years old.
