The Official Lion Ride Bio

HOME TOWN: Sault Ste Marie

ABOUT:
Lion Ride is a 5 piece rock band hailing from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada, now based out of Toronto Ontario.

Formed by long time friends and bandmates as an ode to the classic rock, punk and metal bands, which they all loved.

The original idea for the band was conceived by Marky, when he wrote some instrumental songs and sent them to Mikey, (via the internet) to put some vocals on.

They laid down some quick drum and bass tracks, and posted their work on MySpace.

The positive response was overwhelming, and so it was decided that they should put together a group and play some shows.

With a few phone calls to trusted friends they had the lineup.

Except for bass players, whom they would go through like Pabst Blue Ribbon.

After various failures, they called upon Diamond Brent Panther, and the lineup was complete: Mikey Lion, Marky Lion, Marc O'Lion, The Italian Stallion, and Diamond Brent Panther.

Shortly after, they played their first headlining weekend at their local bar, filling it to capacity both nights, and rode the momentum from there.

On a tip from Terry McManus (Manager to The Birthday Massacre) Producer Tom Treumuth (Big Sugar, Helix, Honeymoon Suite) saw them live in London, Ontario, and decided to work with them to produce their first EP.

This six-song EP was recorded in Hamilton Ontario, at Catherine North Studios (City and Colour, Feist) and mixed at DNA studios in Toronto Ontario (Wu-Tang Clan, Billy Talent).

The music Lion Ride plays is a collage of inspiration; brutal, heavy metal guitars, meet with catchy, classic rock hooks, and punk rock attitude.

This creates a sound that could make even a die hard metal-head find their place on the dance floor.

It should also be noted that it doesn’t matter what size that dance floor is.

Lion Ride’s exciting, leather-clad, often over-the-top live performance can make any venue feel like a stadium.

But make no mistake; this is no gimmick.

This is how rock and roll is supposed to look, supposed to sound, and supposed to make you feel.

Awesome, The band’s first EP, has been available independently since July 19th, 2008.

INFLUENCES: Motorhead, Ramones, Pantera, Slayer, AC/DC, Motley Crue
