Local Witches Dance organizers hopeful it will become annual event (18 photos)

The event, held on Saturday, was the first of it s kind locally

Bellevue Park played host to its first Witches Dance on Saturday.

The dance was choreographed and included local witches and their brooms and was based on a movement believed to have started in Europe where witches perform the dance on the eve of Halloween.

This was the first of its kind for Sault Ste. Marie and appears to have been a big hit.

Organizers have indicated it will likely now be an annual event due to its overwhelming interest and participation.

Participants were given the opportunity to warm up prior to the actual dance.

Afterwards fun was had and treats handed out to children who were in attendance.
