Just Passin' Through concert at the Richards Landing Old Town Hall

RICHARDS LANDING - The Old Town Hall in Richards Landing will be hosting The Mountains and The Trees Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m.

This concert will be the first of 2013's Just Passin' Through shows featuring artists who are travelling through central Algoma on tour and are looking for a place to stay and play for the night.

"The idea is based on the house concert concept," said Events Committee Chair, Jody Wildman. "This is one of the ways we will be bringing good, original live music to the area and it also allows us to help up-and-coming artists with their travel costs."

The Mountains and The Trees is Halifax-based Jon Janes.

He plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, bells, drums, and sings. His live show is very intimate, involving a mixture of storytelling and songs that engage the audience on a personal level and leave them with a warmth in their heart and a smile on their face.

A recent message on The Mountains and The Trees facebook page announced that he would be traveling across Canada in April and that while it wasn't a tour "he would have his guitar, some CDs, and new tunes ... and (he'd) love to share them all."

The Events Committee contacted Janes and he accepted their offer for use of the Richards Landing Old Town Hall, dinner and a place to stay.

True to the 'house concert' theme, admission will be "pay what you can" with a suggestion of $10.

Coffee will be available and guests are encouraged to bring their favourite baking.
