IT and Gates of Winter tonight

IT AND GATES OF WINTER

As a result of the RotaryFest Second Stage performances, there has been a growing friendship between local musician Craig West and progressive metal band Gates of Winter.

One of Craig's many musical endeavours includes "part England-based" progressive band IT.

With a few members still in England, the band has Gates of Winter members Bryan Belleau and Brian Holmes to sub in for their respective instruments.

Throughout the holiday season, there will two dynamic musical performances that we would like to inform the public about.

The first show will be featured at the Lop Lops Lounge on Saturday, December 23.

This show will feature an all acoustic performance from Gates of Winter, Startlefish and IT.

[Admission is free.]

The second show will in turn be a complete reversal.

The show will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall (124 Dennis Street) on Friday, December 29.

It will be sponsored by Miguel Gauthier of Stereo Soul Studios.

The night will feature local thrash group Soldiers of Misfortune, IT, Gates of Winter and The Crossed.

Complete with lighting, professional sound and video projectors, the show will cost only $3, be all ages and start at 6 p.m.

This night also acts as the return of The Crossed which has been inactive from the local music scene for nearly six months.

We feel these shows are a unique opportunity to see two very different sides of Gates of Winter and IT; which normally would not be featured in acoustic performances.

Merchandise will be available from both bands at these shows.

Gates of Winter is still in the process of recording their first album entitled Lux Aeterna at StereoSoulStudios.

Album artwork and a redesigned website are currently in the works by Deep Peace Design, based out of France (Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend).

The album and complete site launch are scheduled for March of 2007 while a planned Ontario/Quebec tour is the summer's goal.
