Thessalon’s Stories in the North is hosting popular workshop leader and blogger Brian Henry to come to town and meet with Soo and area writers.

Henry, a book editor and creative writing instructor for more than 25 years, has great contacts with agents and publishers and lots of great advice for authors trying to break into the business.

He’ll cover everything from getting started to getting an agent; from getting short pieces published to finding a book publisher; from writing a query letter to writing what publishers want.

He is inviting participants to bring the opening page of their manuscript (300 words max) or a draft of a pitch letter used to interest agents or book publishers.

Participants aren’t required to bring anything, but this is a great chance to have someone who knows the publishing industry have a look and give advice on your work.

If you dream of publishing some day but still need to write, come along anyway and let Brian Henry inspire and teach you about how the world of publishing works.

There are six participants signed up so far, so it promises to be an intimate group.

The workshop will take place Sunday, March 23 10 am to 3:30 p.m. in the Algoma Manor Board Room, 145 Dawson St., Thessalon.

Coffee and snacks will be served.

The price is $44 in advance or $48 at the door.
