If you've been to a Greyhounds game this season, you may have noticed something new.

Let's Go Greyhounds!, a new team anthem written by Dustin Jones and performed by the Sault's own Inner City Surfers, made its OHL debut at the September 27, 2008 game against the Saginaw Spirit.

A game that marked the Hounds' second win of the season.

Whether or not the new tune had anything to do with the win, Jones was thrilled when the hockey club approached him to compose a replacement for the now dated Hound Power.

"They're a young, fresh, new team," Jones told SooToday.com. "I was honoured to bring them a young, fresh, new song."

Although Jones had intentions of recording Lets Go Greyhounds! himself, the more he thought about, the more he realized it had to be a Surfers song.

And he faced no resistance from his band mates.

"The other guys really liked the idea of supporting the club in this way," said Jones.

The song, played at home games at the start of each period and when the Hounds score, was recorded in Toronto with the help of Simon Head who, Jones says, "recorded all the good Surfers albums."

The band recently began getting requests from fans to play Let's Go Greyhounds! during live performances.

Something the Surfers have yet to do.

However, the Inner City Surfers are scheduled to play Algoma University's Speak Easy Pub on Friday, February 13 at 10 p.m.

Maybe if the audience asks nice enough, the boys will play it?
