Infrastrate records new album, Chris Rancourt produces it

The following e-mail was received by SooToday.com from Sault native Chris Rancourt, who's attending Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.

Chris is producing a new album for Sault-born alt-rockers Infrastrate, which should be ready for release this summer.

My name is Chris Rancourt, owner of Laris Records, a company that I started last March.

I have been working hard over the last year to find the perfect project to get my feet wet in this business and in the winter of last year I came across the music of Infrastrate.

Both myself and all the members of Infrastrate - Nick Ochoski (bass), Pat Webb (guitar), Ben Ochoski (drums) and Joey Paciocco (vocals - are from Sault Ste. Marie and moved away to attend school.

Infrastrate is in Ottawa attending Carleton University and I am in London attending Fanshawe College.

I signed a deal with Infrastrate to have their next album released through my company making it my first-ever record produced.

The band has been busy writing and recording demo tracks for the new album this year and the we expect it to be on shelves by this summer.

The album will be made up of 10 songs and to be recorded at Audio Valley Studios in Perth, Ontario.

Aside from writing and recording, the band is also making new fans in Ottawa by playing clubs like The Thirsty Scholar, Mavericks and Zaphods Beeblebrox.

They are also competing in the Ernie Battle Of The Bands to win a chance to play the third annual Taste Of Chaos in Ottawa this year.

We were hoping to get some more exposure in the Soo although Infrastrate already has a small following there from playing many shows, including Heatwave, over the last couple of years.
