Marvel Studios to film The Incredible Hulk in Toronto

TORONTO, February 26 - Toronto has been selected as the principal filming location for the upcoming Marvel Studios production of The Incredible Hulk.

The announcement was made jointly today by Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and the City of Toronto's Film and Television Office (TFTO).

The film will be directed by Louis Leterrier (Transporter 1 & 2, Unleashed) and produced by Avi Arad and Kevin Feige (Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises) and Gale Anne Hurd (Terminator 1, 2, 3 and Armageddon).

The film's executive producer Jim Van Wyck (16 Blocks, Lemony Snicket, Armageddon), who shot in Toronto two years ago on the Richard Donner action film 16 Blocks, said "I am very happy to be associated with Marvel, and after our wonderful filmmaking experience on 16 Blocks, I am excited to return to Toronto with this project."

"The film community in Toronto is exceptional, and the cooperation from the city, the province, and the Mayor's office was wonderful," Wyck said.

X-Men (2000), also based on a Marvel comic book series, was filmed in Toronto, and the production crew had a great experience.

"I am tremendously pleased that Marvel Studios has chosen Toronto as its location for The Hulk," said Mayor David Miller.

"This timely decision reinforces Toronto's status as the national centre of excellence and will serve as a strong kick-off to our 2007 production year," said Miller.

"This is a testimonial to the world class locations, crews and production facilities that Toronto and Ontario have to offer," said Kristine Murphy, OMDC's CEO(A).

No cast has been announced yet on the picture which is expected to go to camera in mid-summer.

The project will shoot for upwards of four months in Ontario, employing over 400 local technicians, talent and other industry personnel.
