In Your Eyes Projects to host auditions for upcoming production

In Your Eyes Projects Performance Arts is proud to announce that auditions for Kenneth Lonergan’s “caustic, cruel and compassionate” modern masterpiece, This is Our Youth, will take place May 15 and 17 in the Doc Brown Lounge (EW 205) at Algoma University from 7 to 10 p.m.

This IYE production will be directed by Joseph Lauzon and Loretta Durat, and will be produced by Thomas Brandstetter and Bob Cooper.  

“This is Our Youth is a bold, darkly humorous, bittersweet coming of age story that offers up three meaty roles for young actors to sink their teeth into,” says Joseph Lauzon.

“Previous productions of the play have provided a nice launching pad for a number of young actors on the way up. Mark Ruffalo and Josh Hamilton were in the original production in 1996; other alumni include Matt Damon, Anna Paquin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tavi Gevinson, Colin Hanks, Alison Lohman, Casey Affleck, Chris Klein, Michael Cera and Kieran Culkin.”

“Lonergan’s ear for the way characters speak is pitch-perfect.” Loretta further points out that, “his gift for character analysis, dramatic tension and the kind of wry, ironic dialogue that jumps off the page has made the play iconic and very popular with actors and audience alike. Definitely the ideal project for any young actor looking for a role that offers up a multitude of layers to discover.”
