Hollywood celebrities pitch in to feed and vlothe the homeless on skid row

Tony Shalhoub, Stanley Kamel and other cast members from the hit show 'Monk' join volunteers to feed and clothe the homeless and indigent on Skid Row

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 - Skid Row will be the unexpected location of a Rosh Hashanah meal for 2,500 homeless and impoverished men, women and children on Sunday, September 24, from noon - 3 p.m. in front of the Fred Jordan Mission, 445 Towne Avenue in Los Angeles.

Sponsored by The Creative Arts Temple of Beverly Hills, Rabbi Jerry Cutler and Los Angeles' premier caterer Joann Roth-Oseary, a spectacular buffet of delicious food will be served to the men, women and children who live on Skid Row.

Hollywood celebrities such as Tony Shalhoub, Stanley Kamel and Monty Hall will be present to join the volunteers serving the meals.

Live entertainment, linens and fresh flowers on every table are only a few of the "extras" that will make this a wonderful experience for the needy in our community.

Monty Hall will emcee the event.

"Most people in our society never enter this world of poverty and hunger on Skid Row. Through this Rosh Hashanah celebration, we are creating a vehicle for people to interact and touch the needy in this world," remarked Joanne Roth-Oseary, president of "Someone's in the Kitchen."

In addition to the Hollywood celebrities, over 100 caring volunteers from the congregation of The Creative Arts Temple will distribute 10,000 gifts of new clothes, new shoes, blankets, baby items and other necessities to the homeless and underprivileged guests.

The traditional Shofar, a ram's horn that is a symbol of Rosh Hashanah, will be blown throughout the day as
this special interfaith celebration brings Jews and Christians together to serve the poor.

Traditionally, Rosh Hashanah is a time of family gatherings, special meals and sweet-tasting foods.

People from different backgrounds and walks of life will come together to observe the Jewish New Year this Rosh
Hashanah.
