Hockey anthem semifinalists rocked the college (photos)

Not only are brothers Rob and Sandy Campbell (AKA The Mudpipers) an integral part of Toronto's celtic punk band extraordinaire, The Mudmen, they're also wrestlers, exceptional musicians and really, really nice guys.
Not only are brothers Rob and Sandy Campbell (AKA The Mudpipers) an integral part of Toronto's celtic punk band extraordinaire, The Mudmen, they're also wrestlers, exceptional musicians and really, really nice guys.

The Mudpipers were recently recruited to perform on the Bob Rock-produced version of Colin Oberst's submission to the Hockey Night in Canada Anthem Challenge.

On Saturday, October 4, the five finalists were revealed and Oberst's Canadian Gold had made it to the semifinal round.

This was the same night the Mudmen performed at Sault College's Outback Pub in celebration of Alexander Keith's birthday.

Sorry Mr. Keith, but your birthday took somewhat of a back seat that night.

Rob, Sandy and the rest of the Mudmen were ecstatic to learn they had made the cut and front man Zoy Nicoles repeatedly encouraged the Sault College audience to vote for his band-mates.

"I couldn't believe it when we walked into the room and Bob Rock was sitting there," Sandy told me following the show.

Aside from all the Hockey Night in Canada excitement, The Mudmen furnished the Outback with a fierce night of rock with more punch than a game seven bench brawl.

As they always do.

The boys are scheduled to perform again this month at the Canadian Night Club (410 Pim Street) on Devil's Night, October 30th.
