A performance of Hansel and Gretel is coming to The Loft on Sunday, January 28.

Hosted by voice instructor Dr. Carolyn Hart and featuring  Alice Coote, Philip Langridge and Christine Schafer with Vladimir Jurowski conducting, it’s Algoma Conservatory’s second opera screening this season.

The family classic features the Metropolitan Opera.

“The MET has taken a great work and created a memorable two hour performance with an excellent translation to English,” said Algoma Conservatory of Music in a news release.

“The music is spectacular - as is the staging. It is a feast for the senses.”

The conservatory says this is a great opportunity to introduce young concert goers to opera, recommending the performance for students 8 years of age and up.
