A grocery outlet that employs people facing barriers to paid employment and skill building, while supplying essential goods at a low mark-up to serve an area that has limited access to produce and everyday grocery needs, is getting set to host its second annual gala.
The Come As You Are Gala in support of the Grocer 4 Good Ability Development Program will take place Saturday, June 10, at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Start time is 6 p.m.
Tickets are $45 each (includes buffet dinner, live music, dancing, cash bar) and are available at this eventbrite link.
Who can shop at G4G? Everyone. They are a smaller grocery retailer and offer a variety of products at a low mark-up as well as local specialty products, G4G says in a news release.
They have senior discounts on Thursdays and student discounts on Fridays (10 per cent off store-wide).
The June 10 gala is made possible in thanks to lead sponsor, JDB Group. The event is also sponsored by Lock City Dairy, N1 Solutions, Rossi Suraci Accountants LLP and USW 2251.
The evening's featured menu is from Uncle’s Gino’s, with pasta, meatballs, chicken and salad, plus fresh baked cupcakes for dessert from Harvest Algoma.
Dinner will be accompanied by vocalist Juliana Regan. Then you can "dance the night away" with the talented Bourbon Blue, G4G said in a news release. There will also be silent auction table.
The evening is being organized by Julia Dufour, Alison Fagan and Kim Seabrook. G4G also recognized the hard work done by staff, students and volunteers.
