GO NORTH MUSIC FESTIVAL

RICHARDS LANDING - The Township of St. Joseph Events Committee is pleased to be partnering with Cavera Inc. to bring a festival back to the Richards Landing Centennial Grounds on St. Joseph Island this summer on July 22.

Unlike the former Cornfest held at this location, this festival will not be vegetable (technically starch) focused but will be all about bringing good, live music to the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The Richards Landing Centennial Grounds is the perfect location for an outdoor festival, with its two permanent stages, food, beverage and concession booths and plenty of room for on-site parking and camping.  It is time to bring live, outdoor music back to the Centennial Grounds and to St. Joseph Island.

“We are starting modestly, on our small stage with a one-day, seven act festival with the hope of expanding in future years,” said Events Committee Chair Jody Wildman. “We plan to feature Sault-area food vendors, locally-made beer and would like to provide the opportunity for local artisans to feature their works.”

The headline act for the inaugural festival is The Elwins, nominated for the 2016 Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year. They will be supported on the bill by multi Juno Award winner Old Man Luedecke, Union Duke, Dylan Ireland, Emily Rockarts, and local favourites Rita Hosking and Sean Feder, and Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect.

In addition to the main stage and artisan vendors, the festival will feature activities for kids and a kid’s stage. Overnight camping with a camp stage will also be available.

The Go North Music Festival still has spots available for food and artisan vendors, and are looking for volunteers to help with the event. There are also still opportunities to help sponsor the event.  Interested parties can contact the Township of St. Joseph at 705-246-2625.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.gonorthfestival.ca, or locally at Gardiner’s Corners in Richards Landing, 17E Trading Post at the St. Joseph Island turn-off, and at Case’s Music and The Rad Zone in Sault Ste. Marie.
