Families celebrated the spooky season early as the popular Halloween on Queen event provided loads of candy and spooky entertainment for hundreds downtown on Saturday

The downtown core was bustling this afternoon as hundreds of young families braved the cooler temperatures to enjoy this year's 'Halloween on Queen.'

Hosted by the Downtown Association Sault Ste. Marie, dozens of business owners along Queen Street opened their storefronts and handed out candy to trick-or-treaters of all ages between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

A pair of haunted houses provided some spooky entertainment at the museum and the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site.

The March Street Stage featured magic by Ryan McFarling, while the Witches of Superior will provided Halloween-themed and dancing and music.

Other family-friendly activities and entertainment are taking place throughout the day.

Queen Street between Pim and Dennis is closed throughout the duration of the event.
