Fred Eaglesmith set to play Northern Ontario in August on a New Back Roads Rock ‘n Roll Hay Ride

The summer tradition of quality back roads music concerts with Fred Eaglesmith’s Traveling Show continues August 10-14, 2013 in Northern Ontario.

Independent troubadour and guitarist/singer/songwriter Fred Eaglesmith, will soon be here with his amazing band: Matty Simpson, Kori Heppner, Tif Ginn, Justine Fischer, and Bill Poss.

Fred’s full band will play The Trout Forest Music Festival in Ear Falls on Saturday August 10, followed by some extra special new rural stops this year: Murillo Sunday, August 11; Marathon Monday, August 12; Blind River Tuesday. August 13; and Bala, Muskoka, Wednesday, August 14.

Fred has 19 original albums and plays to enthusiastic audiences all over North America and Europe.

He has been touring for over 30 years as an independent musician, and his musical canon covers everything from bluegrass to country to roots rock.

He is also one heck of a live entertainer and guitarist.

Eaglesmith will play the beautiful Murillo Community Centre, near Thunder Bay and Kakabeka Falls, at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, and this show promises to be a listening concert, suitable for all ages.

Northern Promoter Cal Orok has presented two folk concerts in Murillo this past year, and loves the sound and atmosphere of that hall.

“Next to perfect for hearing the music when established Artists played Murillo’s Community Centre. The audiences were treated to a first class concert and local musicians were also involved. We cannot recommend it highly enough.”

Advance Tickets ($25) for the Murillo Show on August 11 are now available online at Fred’s website store (www.fredeaglesmith.com), Murillo Variety, Wilson’s Store in Murillo, Steeper’s Tea on May, Calico Café on Bay, and Chaltrek on Balmoral.

On Monday, August 12, Fred Eaglesmith is finally coming to Marathon.

The venue is the venerable Moose Hall, on Stevens Avenue right near the waterfront.

Advance Tickets will be available online (www.fredeaglesmith.com), at Casa di Enza Salon by the TD Bank, Marathon Motor Sports, Always Great Pizza Marathon, Two Doors Down in Manitouwadge, and River City Café, Elgin St., White River.

Marathon is one of the larger Ontario towns on the north shore of Lake Superior and is a wonderful tourist destination close to large provincial parks, including White Lake.

Tuesday, August 13, 2013 will be a very special Fred Eaglesmith Show in Blind River, at The Iron Horse Tavern.

It’s an exciting summer venue, perfect for motorcyclists and tourists and campers.

Blind River is on Highway 17, half way between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, and is also close to Elliot Lake, Iron Bridge, Thessalson, Bruce Mines, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.

Advance tickets are available online at Fred’s website, as well as at the Iron Horse Tavern.

Tickets are $25 advance and $30 at the door.

Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 8 p.m., The Royal Canadian Legion in Bala will finally see independent rock and roll.

Fred Eaglesmith and his young band, who play “like punks on a mission”, will play Bala Muskoka, on Highway 169 near Hwy 400.

Seating at this show is limited to 120 persons, so please purchase early.

Advance tickets for the Bala Legion Fred Eaglesmith Concert are available now online and locally in Muskoka at the Rosseau General Store, in Huntsville at Treasures and Trophies on Main St., in Gravenhurst at The Book Store, and at the Bala Legion, open afternoons.

One of the highlights of this year’s tour will be charity pie auctions for Operation Smile, and persons wishing to donate homemade pies should contact the promoter at 705-626-2368.

If you have never seen Fred take on the role of a rural man, you have missed something interesting.

Fred and the band are currently set to head west, and will be coming back to Ontario with a fresh batch of road stories and old jokes, and new music.

Plan to be a part of these shows, and also check out Fred’s annual picnic in Aylmer Ontario, which is on the third weekend in August.
