After three years, Algoma Repertory Theatre (ART) is set to return to a dinner theatre format with its production of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding which was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic.

The night will be an immersive, interactive and improvisational experience as audience members play guests at a mock wedding ceremony and reception at the Machine Shop.

Dinner is included and dancing is encouraged. Gifts are not requested.

Full event details are outlined in the news release below:

Algoma Repertory Theatre (ART) is excited to announce their return to dinner theatre with Artificial Intelligence comedy troupe’s interactive play, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding. Performances will run March 30-31 and April 1, 2023 at the Machine Shop (83 Huron St.) in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

Originally planned to be part of ART’s 2020 season, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding was postponed as a result of the pandemic. After waiting three long years, we are excited to announce they are finally getting married!

The Nunzio and Vitale families request the pleasure of your company at the nuptials of their son, Anthony Angelo Nunzio Jr. and daughter, Valentina Lynne Vitale. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will take place on the mezzanine level of the Machine Shop, reception with dinner and dancing to follow. Cash bar available. Presents for the bride and groom are not requested.

Join "la famiglia" for the biggest, wildest Italian wedding ever to hit SSM! Audiences play wedding guests at a mock ceremony and reception, which means dinner, dancing, drinking and an array of characters and revelations — the Nunzio and Vitale families hate one another, the maid of honour is pregnant, the priest is getting sloshed — that are over-the-top versions of what you might find at any big, noisy, semi-dysfunctional marital celebration. It will be a truly immersive, environmental theatre experience with a talented, interactive, and improvisational comedy cast.

Mangia, mangia! The evening’s menu, specially prepared by the Machine Shop kitchen will include:
    •    Antipasto
    •    Salad
    •    Pasta and meatballs
    •    Chicken, potatoes and vegetables
    •    Desserts
**dietary restrictions will be respected with advance notice

“It’s a sweet pileup of actual and phony, of performance and reality, and you briefly exist on both sides of the line simultaneously.” - New York Times

“This wedding is most memorable for its little moments--moments that only you, as an astute observer of human nature, eavesdropping from the next table, would pick up on.” - L.A. Times

Marc Beaudette and Kara Colynuck, two of the founding members of Algoma Repertory Theatre, will be co-directing. The cast of 24 features several veterans to the local stage and some of new performers that may just surprise you.

Performances will be at the Sault’s premiere wedding venue, The Machine Shop (83 Huron St.) from March 30 to April 1. Tickets are $85 per person and include a specially prepared five-course dinner. Deliziosa! Tickets are general admission with no reserved seating, however we will do our best to have groups seated together.
