Conservatory hosts new vocal day camp

Vocal day and concert - Camp begins August 17

Algoma Conservatory of Music is holding a new Vocal Day Camp this summer beginning August 17. 

Registration is now open. 

The camp will run from Monday August 17 through Friday August 21. 

There are both adult and student sessions and no experience is required. 

The student session (ages 7 to 19) will run from 10 a.m. to to 4 p.m. and is $250 for the week and the adult session is half days from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a tuition of $150. 

The day will include vocal technique, acting, staging, movement, opera and musical theatre.

The instructors are the Conservatory’s resident vocal instructor Sarah Gartshore and guest instructor Jonathan Beyer from Chicago (extensive career including the Metropolitan Opera). 

Students from all teachers are welcome as well as vocalists that have not had any formal training.

Sarah and Jonathan will also be presenting a solo recital in the evening on Thursday August 20 at 7 p.m. at the Recital Room at the Conservatory, 75 Huron Street. 

Tickets are $25. 

Seating is limited. 

Tickets must be reserved in advance. 

This will be a stunning evening of music. 

Sarah Gartshore has had an extensive career including performances at the Ravina Festival, Santa Fe Opera, American Opera Group, and Chamber Opera Chicago.

Jonathan Beyer's impressive background includes the Metropolitan Opera, Munich Philharmonic, Dallas Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony and Boston Lyric Opera.

Tickets or camp registration

Tickets or places in the camp must be reserved in advance either by calling or by email.

Concert tickets are $25 and can be paid at the door.
