Coming together through dance at Superior Heights

The Superior Heights dance team recently hosted a workshop for local students with another planned for December

The Superior Heights Dance Team hosted a Day of Dance workshop on Sunday.

The workshop brought together local students at Superior Heights to participate while the senior team led the workshop in the disciplines of jazz, hip hop, and musical theatre.

Almost 80 students participated in the workshop, which wrapped up with a performance for parents, guardians, and friends.

The workshop was also a fundraiser for the team to help offset costs of a competition the team will be attending in February in Vaughan.

The varsity team, a team of 20 dancers in its second year of competition, is made up of students in grades 9 through 12.

The dance team has also added a new junior team this year, made up of dancers between grades 7 and 9.

The next Day of Dance workshop is on Dec. 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Superior Heights. Cost to participate is $30 and attendees must pre-register to attend.

This weekend will also see the group perform at the Night at Hogwarts this weekend, which is a fundraiser for the Sault Area Hospital.

The team will also be a part of the Rotary Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 18.
