Refugee705 along with the Downtown Association, Global Friends, and the Sault Community Career Centre would like to invite the public to attend a street party in celebration of World Refugee Day on June 20. The party will be held on March Street and will feature live music, face painting, ice cream, games, and more.

This is the third straight year Refugee705 has hosted an event to celebrate World Refugee Day. We began in 2016 with an event to educate the public on the struggles faced by refugees, and last year helped local refugees give back to the community. This year’s theme is Celebrating Diversity in the Sault.

Since the winter of 2015, the Sault has received approximately 130 refugees and the Sault Community Career Centre (SCCC) has engaged over 100 volunteers as part of its 'adopt a family initiative' to help them smoothly transition into a new life here in the community. SCCC continues to recruit volunteers on an ongoing basis.

Refugee705 is an award-winning Sault Ste. Marie-based grassroots non-profit organization which began in November of 2015 as a response to the global refugee crisis. Refugee705 raises awareness of how citizens can sponsor, donate, and volunteer to help with the settlement of refugees in the Algoma District.
