'Call of the Wild' event features Robert Service poetry and song

The Zonta Club of Sault Ste. Marie Area is sponsoring “Call of the Wild”, a night of Robert Service poetry and song featuring Vernon Bailey with musical accompaniment by John McClenaghan. This great piece of entertainment will take place this Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 96 Great Northern Road. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with a cash bar. Music begins at 6:45 p.m. and the show is on at 7 p.m. Baked goods will be available for donation.

Tickets are available for $20 each at the Legion office and at The Shoe Fits in Station Mall.

Proceeds of this well-known and loved event will support Zonta scholarships at local high schools, Algoma University and Sault College as well as Zonta awards for Young Women in Public Affairs, Women in Aviation, Women in Business and Women in Technology.

“The Zonta Club of Sault Ste. Marie Area is a strong supporter of education and literacy. We are happy to direct our fundraising efforts to scholarships and awards. Vernon Bailey is a well-known auctioneer, terrific entertainer and friend of Zonta. We are proud and privileged to host him at this fundraiser,” said Sharon Kirkpatrick, President of the local club.

Zonta is a global organization of members working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Zonta Club of Sault Ste. Marie Area has served the community for 41 years.
