TenarisAlgomaTubes becomes partner of Buskerfest 2007

Buskerfest 2007 runs from August 10 to 12

August 3, 2007 (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) - TenarisAlgomaTubes has once again demonstrated their community leadership through a new partnership with the Sault Buskerfest Committee and the Sault Youth Council.

Buskerfest 2007 will be held August 10, 11 and 12 on Queen Street East, between East and Brock.

Despite the growth and popularity of this unique, family oriented event, sponsorship this year was declining and the festival was in danger of being cancelled or downsized.

The generosity of the partnership of TenarisAlgomaTubes, along with a host of additional generous community supporters, has ensured that the festival will continue this year and promises to be a spectacular event.

“We would like to thank TenarisAlgomaTubes for their generous support of Buskerfest 2007,” comments Donna Hopper, General Manager of Buskerfest. “They have established themselves as a leader in our community through their support of many of our events and festivals, and we are glad we will now have the opportunity to work with them on this level. We would also like to thank all of our sponsors for this year’s festival, as their support ensures that this and all of our important community events thrive in Sault Ste. Marie.”

The exciting list of performers for Buskerfest 2007 includes: Bike Boy, Jonathan Burns, Thom Sellectomy, Spring Action, Squid, and the USA Break Dancers.

Please visit www.buskerfest.ca for full festival details.

Buskerfest 2007 would also like to thank the generosity of all of its sponsors and supporters including TenarisAlgomaTubes, Lucidia, SooToday.com, Community First Credit Union, The Water Tower Inn, Job Connect, PUC, Brookfield Power, Loplops Gallery ~ Lounge, Checker Cab, Christie's Camper Sales, Gran Festa Ristorante, Echo Tech, Northern Star Broadcasting, The Medicine Shoppe, Gough Masonry Ltd., EPOH, Purvis Marine, Stone’s Office Supplies and NCO Customer Management Ltd.

Buskerfest is held through the initiative and direction of The Sault Youth Council.

The Sault Youth Council is a volunteer not-for-profit organization comprised of young people dedicated to representing youth, and being advocates for youth in the city of Sault Ste. Marie.

About Buskerfest

Buskers have captivated audiences for centuries with their special blend of wacky off-beat humour and stunning feats of the incredible.

The weekend of August 10, 11 and 12 has been reserved to delight young and old alike with Buskerfest 2007; Sault Ste. Marie’s most original and fastest growing community-oriented festival.

Those fortunate enough to have witnessed past festivals praised the coordinators and volunteers for creating a fantastic event steeped in magic, whimsy and wonder.

The performers, in conjunction with volunteers from the Sault Youth Council will have Queenstown Square 1 (between East and Brock) closed to traffic but open to everything else as they present their distinctive talents right on the street.

Buskerfest 2007 is a prime example of the Sault’s young people taking responsibility, enabling the community and its youth to connect.

One of the goals of the Sault Youth Council is to encourage the young people of this community to break the stigma that our youth have no voice.

“Speak and Be Heard” is their motto and the perfect companion for the whimsical, magical and captivating event they have organized.

The Sault Youth Council is proud to once again, present this unique brand of entertainment that only professional street performers can provide.
