Bum slides out, hybrid event planned for Bon Soo this year

Organizers have planned to go with a hybrid event for the 2022 Bon Soo Winter Carnival.

The annual event will include virtual events as well in-person events as part of this year's Bon Soo, which begins on Feb. 4.

Following is a full release from organizers on some of the players for the nine-day event:

Bon Soo Ontario Winter Carnival has made the decision to maintain a hybrid event for the 2022 Winter Carnival. Join us virtually for Bon Soo - Test Your Knowledge or a FortNite tournament and in person for skating or a lantern ski among other fun and family-friendly events. Bon Soo 2022 presented by OLG will be taking place from Feb. 4-13, 2022.

Unfortunately, due to the restrictions put in place earlier this month we were unable to build our fan-favourite bum slides for this year’s Winter Carnival. We can’t wait to bring them back next year, and enjoy them once again. Our opening-night celebration will also not be taking place this year.

Our theme this year is to “Embrace Local” and we hope we can count on community support through purchasing the 2022 souvenir button. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have not been able to host our traditional Bon Soo Carnival, and therefore we need your support more than ever to keep the tradition alive for years to come. You can purchase your button at participating Circle K stores starting Monday, Jan. 24.

Bon Soo is optimistic that as the pandemic and lockdown restrictions lifts we’ll be able to host events outside of our traditional February festival dates.
