'Both charities do so much for families at this time of year'

Salvation Army, Christmas Cheer receive $3,100 each from sold-out Old Time Christmas Concert

More than $6,000 was raised for Christmas Cheer and Salvation Army by a fourth annual sold out Old Time Christmas Concert Nov. 26 at Central United Church, according to a news release.

Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore, DOI/Compass Digital Imaging, and Central United Church, the show sold 600 tickets at $10 each.

“The Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore is honoured to present cheques to both Christmas Cheer and the Salvation Army for $3,100 each," said Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore president Anthony Orazietti in a statement. "Both charities do so much for families at this time of year. It is very fitting for the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore to run this event and donate the proceeds to each of them.

"Without our sponsors, supporters, entertainers (donating their time and talent), volunteers and patrons this event is not possible and each of them share in its success."

The show was headlined by the Dave Anich Band featuring Mike Kienhofer, Sheldon Jaaskelainen, Trevor Simpson, Frank Deresti and Jay Case. Additional special guest performances included master of ceremonies, Country 105 morning man Jeff McNiece, the Northern Arts Academy Intermediate Triple Threat Ensemble, Intermediate Acting Essential Ensemble and faculty member soloist Ryan Mauro, and prelude and performance by Algoma University’s Jazz Ensembles.
