The nominees for the 80th Academy Awards were announced this morning by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Jon Stewart will serve as Oscar host for a second time when the awards ceremony is broadcast live by ABC from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on February 24.

Despite the continued strike by the Writers Guild of America, there have been no indications that the indulgent Academy Awards Ceremony will follow in the footsteps of the recent Golden Globes Ceremony which was scaled back to a press conference-style presentation.

The Oscars will continue as originally planned.

The following is a list of some of the announced nominees.
