It was a James Bond-inspired evening at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) Friday night as visitors to Hangar After Dark: Shaken and Stirred enjoyed a variety of activities, gadgets, and of course martinis both shaken and stirred.

Bond-savvy guests tested their luck at Casino Royale games, learned about whiskey stones and duct tape (AKA Moneypenny) wallet-making; battled opponents in Bond Jeopardy, the laser maze and obstacle course; played with gadgets and gizmos; and got up close and personal with some of Entomica’s biggest creepy crawlies.

“We wanted to do something that was science related for adults. Most parents when they take the family to a science centre, it’s the kids that get to play with the toys,” said CBHC Curator Todd Fleet. “We wanted to do something that allowed parents to play with toys and rediscover some of that science they forgot from when they were a kid.”

“There’s so many people that are into science without realizing they are until they see something happening in front of them,” said Edie Suriano, CBHC marketing and promotions coordinator.

Hangar After Dark: Shaken and Stirred was part of the second annual Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival presented April 26 through 30 local science, technology, cultural, and educational institutions, under the direction of Science North.
