Acclaimed songwriter Ann Vriend to play Downbeat Lounge on Sunday

After a month long tour of Australia in February and a recent showcase at SXSW in Austin Texas, Ann Vriend is back in Canada and will be performing at the Downbeat Lounge Sunday, April 24th for a special night of music.

Vriend is in support of her beautiful and head turning debut album Soul Unravelling. Meticulous and thought provoking, infectious and imaginative, Vriend’s music
has rapidly gained both popularity and respect internationally.

Besides her much talked about voice and soulful singing style, Vriend’s songwriting delivers pop appeal with a sense of timelessness that creates an immediate familiarity with young and old audiences alike. This gift has won her first place in a song writing competition (part of the prize took her to Nashville), as well as garnered Vriend song writing commissions and interest from both publishing and film companies.

Vriend has performed at the Edmonton and Calgary Folk Music Festivals, the Leonard Cohen Festival, New York’s Bitter End, Fez and Arlene’s Grocery, and opening spots for Toronto’s Sarah Slean and Australia’s Colin Hay among others.

She has been invited to perform for a number of major Canadian and American labels, and has recorded at Sony Studios (NY), The Hit Factory, and Magnet Vision Studios (LA). Immediately following this tour Vriend will going down to New York City to record the long awaited follow up to Soul Unravelling.
