After meeting more than a decade ago, the lovely ladies of Scarlett Jane - Cindy Doire and Andrea Ramolo - joined forces just a few years back to collaborate, record, tour and share their rootsy elegance with the rest of the nation.

"We had been dear friends for years, and we thought it was about time to hit the road together, live out of suitcases and go in debt, so we started Scarlett Jane about three years ago," Ramolo told SooToday.com during the duo's early November performance at 180 Projects on Gore Street in Sault Ste. Marie.

"Sault Ste. Marie has a lot to do with that," Doire added. "Andrea and I used to go on tours as friends before we started a band, called 'We Don't Care That It's Winter' tour. It was brutal to drive to Sault Ste. Marie in the winter, but we did it and that was kind of us planting seeds for this project."

"Our friendship was always intertwined with creating and writing and drinking wine and crying," Doire continued. "It was pretty natural for us to write together and sing together. It was an organic transition to start this band. Now it's a pretty well oiled machine."

During its most recent visit, that 'well oiled machine' presented two sets loaded with stunning harmonies, contagious laughter, and an on-mic phone call to Ramolo's significant other, Tom Wilson (Junkhouse, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Lee Harvey Osmond).

Scarlett Jane's initial 2013 seven-song release, Stranger, was remixed, remastered and rereleased this past spring, and the ladies are currently in the process of crowd funding its followup with a number of perks available to contributors.

Those include digital album downloads, physical copies of the new album and previous recordings, handwritten lyrics, liner note credits, private concerts, stage-worn boots, and babysitting.
