So, a strange thing happened at Sault College's Outback Pub this past Tuesday.

They hosted a concert.

But that's not the strange part.

The strange part is the show started at 11:30 a.m.

Yes, in addition to burgers, fries and the usual lunch cuisine, the College served up a nice big helping of Canadian indie pop rock from Two Hours Traffic and special guests, The Danks.

With the understanding that the show began at noon, SooToday.com arrived at the Outback at the appointed time eager to hear both bands perform.

But to our dismay, as we approached the building, the familiar sounds of Two Hours Traffic's Sure Can Start filtered through the parking lot.

We had missed the opening set from The Danks.

Rats!

Despite playing at an hour when most touring bands are still unshowered and attempting shake off the night before, Two Hours Traffic dispensed an hour's worth of the hooks, melodies and all-around awesomeness that has put them at the forefront of the current East Coast power pop revival.

They recently made it to the number 18 spot on i (heart) music's Hottest Bands in Canada 2008 list, and won this year's East Coast Music Award for Best Pop Album for their sophomore recording Little Jabs.

The album was also chosen as a finalist for the prestigious 2008 Polaris Music Prize which is awarded yearly to the best Canadian album regardless of genre or record sales.

It was unfortunate that most in attendance seemed far more interested in the burgers and fries.

Two Hours Traffic will be featured on Citytv at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 8 as part of Rogers Presents the Polaris Music Prize.

Also performing are Black Mountain, Shad, Basia Bulat, Holy F*ck, Kathleen Edwards, Plants and Animals, Stars, the Weakerthans and the prize winner, Caribou.
