46th Parallel will feature 60 artists from 15 countries around the world

SAULT STE. MARIE - With over 60 artists, filmmakers, poets and musicians, hailing from 15 countries, 46th parallel aims to foster new creative projects within the city, including a revolving outdoor graffiti gallery, local and international internships and the launch of a regionally focused vinyl record label.

This free community event will take place at the Grand Theatre (641 Queen St. East) on June 28 (5 p.m. - 2 a.m.) and June 29 (12 p.m. - 2 a.m.).

[Offered] are feature-length films and documentaries, graffiti workshops, music from countless local musicians, and local and international visual artists.

A complete schedule of events can be found online at 46thparallel.ca and on twitter @the46thparallel.

Thanks to the efforts of community partners, such as the Arts Council of Sault Ste Marie, Allan Brunke Photography, Art Gallery of Algoma, Northern Lights, Al Markhiya Gallery (Qatar) and Love for Kitui Foundation (Kenya), this unique event will be made possible.

Thirty precent of all public donations will go to support the Love for Kitui Foundation which provides food, clothing and education to orphans and aspiring youth in Kitui, Kenya.

The objective of 46th Parallel is to bring independent talent together within a community building on local cultures through various forms of interactive entertainment and activities.

It is an event open to all with the aim of bringing creative people together to connect with other artists.

8:56, the creator of the parallel concert series, has ongoing projects in Africa, Lebanon, Iceland, London, Oman, Palestine, Sir Lanka and Qatar.

The organization hopes to connect Sault Ste. Marie with the greater international community through numerous projects. 8:56’s passion for positive change and creative initiatives is the impetus of the ‘Parallel’ series, which is slated to expand to Qatar and Lebanon later this year.

Join the Parallel.
