10 'Anne' hopefuls set to hit the stage at auditions Saturday

Lead and ensemble auditions take place Sunday and Monday

Musical Comedy Guild would like to congratulate all 18 contestants that took part in our online video contest "Searching For Anne" as part of our staging of Anne of Green Gables - The Musical to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday! We would like to thank everyone that took time to listen to the video auditions and voted for their favourite with almost 5,000 votes cast.

The results are in and the top eight contestants and two director’s picks will take part in a Live Auditionat the  Station Mall in the Dennis Street Court starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24. Come and show your support!

The winner will be announced July 1 at the Canada Day Celebrations following the Opening Ceremonies at the Bondar Pavilion. 

For adults and youth wishing to audition for lead and ensemble roles, Open Auditions will take place at St. Hubert Elementary School, 207 Dacey Road as follows:

Sunday, June 25

Youth Auditions for ensemble and all youth roles will take place at 2 p.m.  Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes as there will be a choreography component during the auditions.

Adult Auditions for ensemble and all adult roles except Marilla, Matthew and Miss Stacy will take place at 7 p.m. 

Monday, June 26

Auditions for: Marilla at 7 p.m.; Matthew at 8 p.m.; Miss Stacy at 9 p.m.

Tickets for the November 23 - 26, 2017 run will go on sale Saturday, June 24 at the Sault Community Theatre Centre Box Office in the Station Mall.

The full-stage production will be directed by Timothy Murphy with music direction by Rony Dal Cin and produced by Thomas Brandstetter and Leith Harris.   Based on the novelAnne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the musical has been performed continuously ever since 1965, making it Canada's longest-running musical! In March 2014, the production was officially recognized as the longest running annual musical theatre production in the world by Guinness World Records.
