Tenaris names new president for Canadian operations

Company veteran Martin Castro will lead country's commercial, manufacturing and services operations

Tenaris has appointed Martin Castro its new president in Canada, where he will oversee all commercial, manufacturing and services operations, leading a team of approximately 1,000 in the country, a news release said.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to meet, listen and learn from our team in Canada who have worked hard over the past couple of years to complete meaningful investments to transform our industrial footprint and to strengthen our commercial presence," said Castro, who will be based in Sault Ste. Marie. "I applaud their achievements and look forward to working with everyone to advance Tenaris’s positioning.”

In 2022, Tenaris inaugurated a series of investments, including $150M in Canada, to centralize its pipe manufacturing operations of both seamless and Electric Resistance Welding under a single roof in Ontario.

 Castro joined Tenaris in 2007 in Argentina as a global markets senior analyst. In 2008, he moved to the United States where he worked in planning and commercial under various roles, including commercial vice-president. He also held the position of managing Director for Tenaris’s operations in Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Castro, born in Argentina, graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires with a degree in industrial engineering. He received the degree of finance specialization from the Universidad de San Andres in Argentina, and an executive MBA from Columbia Business School in New York City. Castro is a U.S. citizen.
