The Sault Star announced today that it will vacate its longtime Old Garden River Road location at the end of November, with staff working from home permanently.

The paper made the announcement in an article today. The move will also affect Sault This Week, which is located in the same building and is also owned by print chain Postmedia.

The Star, which has operated out of 145 Old Garden River Road since the 30,000-square-foot building was constructed in the late 1970s, says the archives housed there will become part of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library's permanent collection.

Postmedia sold the building to a local developer in 2017 and leased back the space, three years after shifting printing of the paper to North Bay.

Staff have been working from home since the beginning of the pandemic, says the paper.
