LETTER: Weather forecasts should focus on city, not the airport

'Since the majority of us do not live anywhere near the airport, this begs the question: Why is the weather office at the airport and not in town?'

SooToday received the following letter about the Jerry Shields' column: Airport weather isn't Sault weather.

After many years of saying the same thing, I was relieved to see Jerry Shields say the same thing yesterday — the weather at the Sault airport bears no resemblance to conditions in town.

Since the majority of us do not live anywhere near the airport, this begs the question: Why is the weather office at the airport and not in town?

All weather forecasts available to us differ so, other than sticking your head out the door, how do we obtain a reasonably accurate weather forecast? I read Jerry Shields!
