SooToday.com received this letter from reader Ian MacKenzie about the upcoming municipal election.
**************************
Now is the time for all of us to stop complaining and vote for your municipal government.

Remember those on the present council that did not follow your wants; spending reserve monies to finance the new downtown park that neither the provincial or federal government would invest in.

Remember the new city logo that very few people appear to know what it represents. Some say thousands of taxpayers dollars wasted on that.

Thank goodness we may be able to update the downtown transit rather than building a new one way down at the bus barns where many of our physically handicapped would have difficulties getting to the GFL centre for Greyhound games or shows.

This, along with many other projects that the taxpayers did not want their tax money spent on.

This council, not all of them, but many of them, were spending too much money and reserve money on projects not required during these very tough economic times.

We need individuals to be more conscious of the use of our tax money, not their individual desires. I hope we do not require any reserves due to extreme winter conditions as they have spent it.

Elect new councillors that are tax conscious. Question the candidates. Ask them. A responsible council with responsible Mathew Shoemaker as Mayor.
