A Celebration of Life
Violet Ann LaPointe

Family and Friends gathered on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Arthur Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to help celebrate the life of Violet LaPointe. Violet walked on Tuesday, April 16, after a long illness.

Violet was ceremoniously prepared with cedar by the family and dear friend Judy Keller, who traveled from Rapid River, Michigan to honor her. A sacred fire was attended for 7 days by Clifford Waboose, with help from Carl and Lindsey and others who participated in drumming, singing and pipe ceremonies. Chi Miigwetch.
Before welcoming friends, close family members gathered at Arthur’s to remember their Mother, Daughter, Sister, Cousin and Aunt. There, they were able to share in her life through the many pictures and special and sacred items that were displayed while her favorite music was played. Beginning at noon, the family welcomed many, many others, while White Frost Sobriety Drum members played and sang. Some of Violet’s favorite flowers brightened the room.

At two o’clock, a Celebration of Life Service was led by Willard Pine. His kind words and the wisdom that he shared were comforting to all as they prepared to say their final goodbye to “Vi”. The family would like to say Chi Miigwetch to Willard, White Frost and all the staff at Arthur Funeral Home for helping make this day such a beautiful tribute to our Violet.

The family would also like to thank the Intensive Care staff from the Sault Area Hospital for all their hard work and support over the past weeks. Special thanks to Harvey Bell and Wendy Walls, and others that assisted the family. Finally, the family would like to thank all of the neighbors, family and friends that participated in so many ways to make Violet’s last day special. Whether with your condolences, food brought to the family home or the Celebration, prayers offered or by your presence, we are simply overwhelmed by your love and kindness.

Violet is loved by many and will be missed until we meet her again in the spirit world. “Bama mine kowabmen Violet.”
