In light of COVID-19 and restrictions placed on gatherings, the 2020 Hub Trail Festival will expand to include a month-long scavenger hunt. The annual festival, usually held on Canada Day, will take place throughout the entire month of July. This extension gives participants plenty of time to complete the scavenger hunt while following physical distancing guidelines.

“We are thrilled with the addition of a scavenger hunt over an extended timeframe for this year’s hub trail festival,” said Brent Lamming, director of community services, in a news release. “This is an excellent opportunity for the community to participate in a safe manner while respecting physical distancing.”

The Hub Trail scavenger hunt will begin on June 29 at noon and will end on Aug. 3. Participants will be challenged to find 20 images of Canadian objects or activities placed throughout the Hub Trail, and will have the chance to win various prizes. A copy of the scavenger hunt form can be found on the city’s website, and can be submitted to the Community Development Department at [email protected].

Algoma Public Health and the City of Sault Ste. Marie remind participants to be safe by keeping two metres away from those outside your household, and washing your hands before and after you complete the hunt.
