NEWS RELEASE
SAULT STE. MARIE YMCA
*************************
The COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving. This is a new, and unprecedented, reality for all of us, especially those in people-facing service industries.

As of Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m. we have made the difficult decision to close the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA facility until April 6, 2020.

Our YMCA provides a broad range of services and programming to diverse sections of our community. As such, we’ve committed to addressing the current COVID-19 pandemic situation and basing all of our decisions with a people-focused lens. We’re collaborating with the public health unit and other leaders in our industry to make informed decisions that seek to keep our members, families, volunteers and staff healthy and well.

Your health and wellbeing remain a priority to us. Please know this is a pre-emptive solution, a way for us to work with authorities to try to slow the spread of COVID-19. No further membership payments for programs or services will be taken until the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA resumes services and existing enrolment for programs will be maintained.

Know that while we’re closing our building during this time, your Y isn’t going anywhere. We continue to explore ways for us to be here for you – both during these unprecedented times and beyond. You may be wondering how you can best help us at this time, and to that, we say be ready to come back to us when we reopen. Until then we will update you regularly through our Facebook page and through our website.
