Three new cases of COVID-19 in the Algoma District

Algoma Public Health is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma district.

Case #18 is attributed to international travel and is self-isolating after testing positive for the virus on May 12. The person's close contacts have been notified.

The origins of cases number 19 and 20 are unknown and is evidence of ongoing community spread in Sault Ste. Marie & Area, says Algoma Public Health.

Both of those individuals are self-isolating after testing positive for the virus on May 13. Their close contacts have been notified.

Algoma Public Health reminds residents that all returning international travellers must stay home and self-isolate for 14 days all Algoma residents must continue to practice physical distancing because any close contact could be a possible exposure

Unknown exposure is evidence of ongoing community spread in Sault Ste. Marie & Area and it remains possible and likely in all regions of Algoma.
