A staff member at Rome's Your Independent Grocer has tested positive for COVID-19, according to parent company Loblaw Companies Limited.

A section on the Loblaws website states a team member with the 44 Great Northern Rd. grocery store in Sault Ste. Marie tested positive on a presumptive case for COVID-19. The company says the team member last worked on Dec. 30.

This marks the second COVID-19 exposure at 44 Great Northern Rd. at a Loblaws location. Yesterday, SooToday confirmed a positive case at the Shoppers Drug Mart in the Cambrian Mall. That staff member last worked on Sunday.

To date, 94 cases have been confirmed in the Algoma region. Currently, there are 30 active cases in Algoma residents and one case in a non-Algoma resident temporarily in the area.
