Sault Ste. Marie MPP Ross Romano announced today that his constituency office, located at 390 Bay St., has fully reopened to visitors.

With COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place, Romano says office staff members have "made some small changes to the office to make in-person visits as safe as possible."

These include mandatory face coverings and hand sanitizer. It's also suggested that anyone wishing to make an in-person visit to the office call ahead (705-949-6959) to book an appointment.

Office hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The full statement issued today by Ross Romano follows:

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Ontario in March, many businesses and offices were required to close to help flatten the curve. It is because of all of our hard work that we’ve been able to reopen our economy once again.

Since the beginning of the shutdown, my constituency office has remained partly staffed to serve the residents of Sault Ste. Marie. We have been answering your calls and doing our best to help resolve issues, to provide updates about COVID-19, and to deliver information on provincial programs and services. I am pleased to let you all know that we are now fully reopening our office to constituents, with some safety measures put in place to help protect the health and safety of all visitors and staff.

Recently, we have made some small changes to the office to make in-person visits as safe as possible. We want you to feel comfortable when visiting in-person.

These simple changes include:
    •    Visitors entering the office are required to wear a face covering. If you do not have a face covering, we will provide you with disposable mask.
    •    When possible, please call prior to visiting and set up an appointment time.
    •    When you arrive at the office, take a seat in the lobby and a staff member will assist you at the counter.
    •    Hand sanitizer is available at the counter.
    •    Consider emailing your documents, rather than hand-delivering them to the office.
    •    Office hours remain unchanged Monday to Friday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

We are encouraging everyone to continue to do their part. Our staff will be careful to sanitize spaces frequently between guests. We ask that you please ensure you are not visiting us if you feel unwell, if you have recently come into contact with someone unwell or who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, or if you have traveled outside Canada in the past 14 days. By following the guidelines set out by the Chief Medical Officer of Health and Algoma Public Health, we can make a difference and help to stop the spread of the virus.

Thank you and please stay safe everyone.
