Ontario confirms 100 new COVID cases today

With two new deaths reported today, there have now been 2,800 COVID-related deaths reported in Ontario since March

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 100 new cases of COVID-19 in today's update, and has reported two more deaths. 

The province has now reported 2,800 COVID cases that have ended in death. 

According to Public Health Ontario, there have been 2.8 million COVID tests processed in Ontario since the start of the pandemic, including 20,013 tests reported processed since yesterday's update. 

To-date, the province has confirmed 41,607 cases of COVID-19, and has reported 37,748 of those as recovered (90.7 per cent). 

Based on the information provided in today's epidemiological summary, there are now 1,023 active, lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Ontario, which is up from yesterday's 1,016 active cases. There are 39 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 13 people in intensive care and 10 patients on ventilators.  

There are seven remaining active outbreaks at long-term care homes. 

Today's provincial epidemiology report is not available yet. It contains the details on what health units reported new cases, as well as the ages of the two people who died.

According to data from the health units, there are four known active cases in Northern Ontario.

The break down for the health units is:

  • Algoma Public Health - 27 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit - 37 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • Porcupine Health Unit - 72 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts - 94 cases. There is one known active case.
  • Timiskaming Health Unit - 19 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • Northwestern Health Unit - 46 cases. There is one known active case.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit - 104 cases. There are two known active cases.
