Dr. Lucas Castellani, an infectious disease physician at Sault Area Hospital, has posted a plea to Facebook, urging Saultites to stay home.

He posted the following message with the video on Sunday:

Friends, family, community:

This is a big ask. This is a difficult ask. But it’s an important ask. It is a necessary ask.

We are at a point in time when we can make a huge difference. We can prevent people from getting sick. We can stop people dying.

The time is NOW to change how we live to help with this crisis. By changing how we live, we will make a big difference.

We ask you. We beg you to:

1) Stay Home if at all possible

2) If you must go out, practice social distancing – stay at least 2 meters or 6 feet away from others if possible

3) Wash your hands regularly

4) Don’t touch your face

5) If you are sick, stay home for 14 days if possible
